Team Fishing for MD (FFMD) entered the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishing Association "Championship on the Chesapeake" Tournament and the Rod n Reel Pro-Am Tournament Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The team braved the wet, cold conditions of the Rod n Reel marina in Chesapeake Beach, MD, placing with the 2nd and 3rd place rockfish (47.2 lbs and 43.9 lbs). Waiting on the docks when the team arrived on Saturday and Sunday were families and children who are living with muscular dystrophy. The FFMD team spent time with the children and families on the Everglades boat and admired the fish that were brought to the scales.
"This event was one of the most fulfilling we have had since launching our team,” said Paul Robertson, Team captain and founder of FFMD. “Not only because we performed at an exceptional level, but we had the opportunity to have children affected with muscular dystrophy spend time with our team. Seeing the faces of the children light up with smiles when the boat pulled into the slip and we brought out the fish was priceless. Adding to this excitement the children were able to get on the boat and sit in the captain's seat.” He added, “This team is all about changing the world and helping to cure muscle disease."
The team placed first, second, and third in most of the Calcutta divisions. FFMD donates 50% of all tournament winnings to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
