But wait...not sure what FFMD is all about?
Founded by Captain Paul Robertson, Fishing for Muscular Dystrophy, or FFMD, is a 501(c)(3) organization whose goal is to raise awareness and funds for the fight against Muscular Dystrophy and related neuromuscular diseases. Robertson himself was first diagnosed with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy over 15 years ago. After overcoming mobility challenges, he decided to use his talent and passion for fishing and dedicate it to supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association. As an offshore fishing team, FFMD competes in numerous tournaments and other events each year along the East Coast and Gulf of Mexico. With their battlewagon of choice - an Everglades 435cc - FFMD has helped raise nearly two million dollars for the MDA in the last four years.

This year's 243cc raffle officially kicked off April 11th at the first annual Muscular Dystrophy Muscle Classic, held in Pompano Beach and co-sponsored by Big Dog Tackle and Everglades dealer Sundance Marine. Despite some rough seas, the weekend tournament was a big success.
"We had 25 boats and a payout of over $30,000," said Robertson. "With all the praise and verbal commitments, we think next year we'll have over 75 boats!"
As in years past, the main focus of the FFMD raffle is to raise funds specifically for the MDA's summer camp program. Every year, the MDA hosts thousands of children affected by neuromuscular diseases at dozens of special camps around the country, where children can experience many fun activities we normally take for granted. Families pay nothing for their child to attend, so the cost of $2,000 per child is absorbed by the MDA. The combined gross proceeds of the highly successful 2017 and 2018 raffles exceeded $468,000, and helped send many children to enjoy the best week of their lives.
